How I learned to stop worrying about the wind and love the board

Recently, I got into electric skateboarding and have been riding every chance I get. Eboard carving is fantastically similar to surfing. in fact, it may be better, in some sense.

With Onewheel board in the mix, the motion is very similar to hydrofoiling. So similar that I started jibing on the foil after a few weeks on the onewheel. That got me thinking...

How many of you are using electric skateboards these days?

Thanks for leading the way

Thanks for leading the way Gary! You already know that Dylan and I have joined the bandwagon. Chris Greci, who now lives in the Bay Area has a OW. I also know Ed White has a zboard. Curious to see how many others there might be out there.

Decided to get a human

Decided to get a human powered carving skateboard for now.

Need the exercise!

Yep, they're a game changer.

Yep, they're a game changer. I have a boostedboard for laps around castle island and especially good for going to check on wind conditions at p bay. Jermy may have sold me on the carver a few days ago, not powered and more effort, but super fun!

I decided to go with a

SurfSkate

Anyone tried it?

yeah that's what I was

yeah that's what I was talking about above... I have a Carver surf-skate and it's so much fun, such a great workout, and I really do feel it helping my balance and deep carving on the surfboard. I can go all the way around PBay without touching the ground! Check out their website, lots of fun videos of people shredding wave-like contours of subruban and urban landscapes :)

Does that have the weird Spinny truck like the one I referenced above?

Try mine anytime.

It's a different kind of truck. Try mine anytime.

Carver length

Jermy - what you think is the best length for the carver board?

Kristof and I have this one

Kristof and I have this one which is 33.75in: http://shop.carverskateboards.com/collections/surfskate/products/point-b...

I think Haley said his about the same size.  I think this is wide enough to feel natural and close to where your kite bindings may be, without being too long and feel like a boat that's hard to turn. BTW I have the Cx trucks, Kristof has the C7s. the CX are def snappier feeling.

I am tempted by this one, just because it's cheaper, $369

The new One Wheel is cool, currently at $1500 but regular price close to 2 grands is insane.

Carver board = bliss + +surfing + workout

Jermy - wanted to thank you for the Carver advice. Rode it out today and could not be more stoked. Soooo fun and no bateries or wind needed. Thanks again!! Let's ride PB soon. :)

Looks pretty cool.

Looks pretty cool.

How hard is it to learn, I remember trying out my brother skateboad when we were kids and it did not work out for me too well. asphalt is really hard when you kiss it. What's the difference with a long boad, these Carvers look pretty short like a regular skateboard.

The ones that we all got were

The ones that we all got were around 34 in long, with various widths between the trucks. A lot of them are shorter, but I say go mid-to-long if you plan on crusing.  Try mine anytime.

Kristof was a total rookie on a skateboard and he's getting pretty good and he likes it more and more every session ;)
